John Tuomey at the Lyric Theatre | Sunday 21 April, 3.30pm

The architect responsible for the award winning Lyric Theatre at Ridgeway Street, Belfast will talk about his role in developing the Stirling Prize nominated design.  John Tuomey established O’Donnell + Tuomey in 1988 and the practice went on to win more than 80 national and international awards for their architecture.

PLACE Urban Design Summer School Day Four | Urban Design & Building Visits

The PLACE Urban Design Summer School is a week long event for 14 - 20 years olds to explore architecture, design, public art, sketching, photography, urban history and more! The week offers the 27 young people registered a chance to learn about the built environment through exciting workshops, fascinating tours and more!

The Summer School is a part of 'out of PLACE' in Ireland's tallest building, The Obel. With support from Karl Group and McConnell Property PLACE are occupying the ground floor with fantastic views over-looking the River Lagan until September. Out of PLACE will also host the 'Secret Laboratories' exhibition and the 'RSUA President's Medal: The Shortlist' exhibition.

Let's see what everyone got up to on day four with a particular focus on Urban Design and some exciting Building Visits...

Lyric site visit upcoming in January

John Tuomey will conduct a site visit to the Lyric Theatre in Belfast on Wednesday 26th January at 1pm. RSUA members only. Queries to the RSUA.

Don't forget, next Thursday 9th December, John presents his AAI Awards Lecture at the Reception Room, City Hall. He'll be discussing the Timberyard in Dublin, winner of the Downes Bronze Medal, and An Gaelaras in Derry, which won a Special Award at this year's Awards - as well as giving an update on the progress of the Lyric. Work on new Lyric Theatre underway

Work has begun on the new Lyric Theatre on Ridgeway Street, off the Stranmillis Road.
