summer of somewhereto_ Launch Party

For three weeks this summer, somewhereto_ will again take over a vacant retail unit, transforming it over three weeks into a free creative space for young people to use for enterprise, fashion, music, photography, art, events, and workshops. summer of somewhereto_ is a national festival, with six locations across the UK. On 15 July 2014, we will formally the launch the Northern Ireland space, located on High Street in Antrim, and shine a spotlight on homegrown talent from across the region.

Exhibition: Vicinity at Catalyst Arts

Vicinity features artworks based on the 1-mile radius of Catalyst Arts in Belfast.

Catalyst Arts presents VICINITY, a group exhibition investigating temporary, adaptable and transitory methods for exploring Belfast city. Artists will work in an engaged manner using the mile radius of the gallery as a starting point to make new work in the gallery and at offsite locations.

Opening reception Thursday 22nd March 2012 7pm - 10pm
Exhibition continues until 13th April 2012
Open Tuesday to Saturday 11 - 5pm

Sterile Environment is ongoing at Catalyst Arts until 23rd June.


This art and architecture crossover exhibition explores the city of the past, present and future. Exploring the vitality, heritage and character of old and new Belfast. What is the city becoming? Are we protecting heritage adequately? Are we encouraging sustainable design and quality architecture?

A New PLACE

Concept Design for the New Place
The project for University of Ulster 1st Year students this year has been to design an imaginary public venue in the city of Belfast. After doing site analysis and gathering their initial thoughts, PLACE was revealed as the client. Find out how they responded to this challenge at A New PLACE, an exhibition running until 11th June at PLACE.

Call for submissions: Sterile Environment

Exhibition launching Thurs 2nd June at Catalyst Arts, Belfast. A joint Catalyst Arts and PLACE exhibition exploring the vitality, heritage and character of old and new Belfast. What is the city becoming? Are we protecting heritage adequately? Are we encouraging sustainable design and quality architecture? This art and architecture crossover exhibition explores the city of the past, present and future.

Call for submissions
We want you to explore the threat of extinction of many of Belfast’s older buildings and the eradication of the heritage and character associated with the city that makes way for new buildings and a new way of living. We are seeking artists and architects to respond to the old and the new by submitting proposals by 12 noon on Friday 22nd April.
