summer of somewhereto_ Launch Party

55 High Street, Antrim, BT41 4AY
Tuesday 15 July, 6-8pm

For three weeks this summer, somewhereto_ will again take over a vacant retail unit, transforming it over three weeks into a free creative space for young people to use for enterprise, fashion, music, photography, art, events, and workshops. summer of somewhereto_ is a national festival, with six locations across the UK. On 15 July 2014, we will formally the launch the Northern Ireland space, located on High Street in Antrim, and shine a spotlight on homegrown talent from across the region.

The space, generously donated by Karl Asset Management, with support from Enkalon Foundation, consists of a large ground floor retail unit, and a huge upper floor. somewhereto_ has partnered with Catalyst Arts to offer the upper floor to three emerging young artists in residence, Ciaran McCusker, Rosanna McKenna, and Drydan Wilson. The ground floor space will be used during the festival by young creative entrepreneurs, performers and artists to develop new work, progress ideas, plan and stage events, and access an extensive national and local network of peer support and advice.

Committed to youth development, summer of somewhereto_ will provide a space where young people can communicate their ideas and receive support from some of the UK's most prolific and influential industry professionals, all of which have individually carved out successful and diverse careers. Nikhil Shah (Founder of Mixcloud), Fred Butler (Fashion Designer & Creative consultant for brands Nike, Swatch and Selfridges), Cassandra Stavrou (Founder of Propercorn), Eddie Evelyn-Hall (Head of Talent at Syco Ent.) Faraz Osman (Creative Director at Lemonade Money, previously TV Commissioner for Education & Learning at Channel 4) and Naomi Smart (Features Editor at Vogue) among others, will be contributing their time and expertise to young people throughout the festival.

Local mentors include Mairead Campbell (Dare Dreamers), Aislinn Clarke (Wireless Mystery Theatre), Rich Dale (Flowlens), and Mervyn Smyth (Belfast Exposed), who will be offering career development workshops and one-on-one advice to young people.

Join us on Tuesday 15 July, at 6pm for live music (Jamie Neish, The Stonemasons, Emma Horan), live illustration (David Lee Badger, Martina Scott) and meet our young creative entrepreneurs (Aaron Kell, Andre Nugent, Matthew Olphert, Lauren Scott).
