Community Buildings and Heritage - The Hidden Potential of Community Ownership | Clifton House, Belfast - 26 Sept, 11am - 1pm

This autumn, Co-operative Alternatives in collaboration with the Building Change Trust are organising a series of thematic workshops exploring ‘community shares’ and how crucial they have been to the development and regeneration of communities across the UK.

With more than 120 successful share offers made since 2009, Co-operative Alternatives have invited speakers with firsthand experience of community share offers who can bring a real understanding of why the use of community shares are thriving.

The first workshop in the series is entitled 'Community Buildings and Heritage - The Hidden Potential of Community Ownership' and takes place at Clifton House, Clifton Street, Belfast on 26th September 2013.

This workshop aims to showcase projects developed around community buildings using community share offers and discussing how these have enhanced the value of heritage in communities.

If you are searching for solutions and alternatives for buildings that lay vacant and underused in your area, if you think that redevelopment could both benefit communities and preserve heritage, if you want to know more about community shares and community ownership, then join this free workshop. Speakers will include Mr Chris Hill & Ms Jo Bird.

This workshop welcomes representatives of the heritage sector, community and voluntary sector, campaigners and political representatives as well anyone looking for ideas to combine social finance tools with community development.
