Back for the 2nd year! The Urban Design Academy is our event of the Summer for all those aged 14-19 who aspire to create a better, brighter city, or are simply intrigued by the unique combination of art and science that is architecture.

Join PLACE Built Environment Centre for 5 days spent creatively discovering architecture & design, planning & public art through building visits, sketching, photography, history and more.

What will I be doing?

It will be an action packed week, with building visits, sketching lessons, guided tours, film screenings, talks and so much more. Speakers will include architects, urban designers, activists, artists and many many more... Get an insight into how design professionals work, what they do day-to-day - and how YOU can improve the world around you through design.

Who should attend?

- Ages 14 - 19

- Anyone from Northern Ireland or beyond who is interested in architecture, urban design, planning or public art, even if it's all new to you!

- Anyone who is considering studying architecture, planning, public art or related courses

Practical info

- The event takes place over 5 days from Monday 5 - Friday 9 August 2013.

- The event starts at 10am each day and ends at 5pm. (Registration on the first day is from 9.30am.)

- The event is based at somewhereto_ re:store in Bangor Town Centre, a creative hub where we're harnessing the energy and skills of young creative people to make a difference on the High Street for 6 weeks during Summer 2013.

- The event will include supervised visits to various buildings and parts of the town and surrounding area.

- The price includes lunch and refreshments for participants each day and material costs.

- Difficulty getting to Bangor? We'll be providing advice on transport options in the run-up.
