An Introduction to working in the Built Heritage Sector Training

CITB-ConstructionSkills NI in conjunction with Belfast Metropolitan College, South Eastern Regional College and South West College have announced the delivery of an introductory 30 hour training programme: Understanding Repair and Maintenance of Traditional pre-1919 Buildings.

CITB-ConstructionSkills NI through the Heritage Lottery Funded project Sustaining Traditional Building Skills in NI seek to develop the capacity of the construction industry labour force to engage in the conservation, maintenance and repair of the provinces pre-1919 building stock. It is estimated that 16% of Northern Irelands total building stock is in this category.

The programme provides an opportunity to undertake the Cskills Awards Level 3 Award in Understanding Repair and Maintenance of Traditional pre-1919 Buildings, in addition an opportunity will be available to participate in a range of practical activities to underpin the classroom based learning. The programme concludes with a progression workshop where participants will find out about additional training and development opportunities which exist; including the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Heritage Skills (Construction).
