I Wish This Was... at the East Belfast Arts Festival | 8th September, 12 - 6pm

PLACE, King Street Arts and local artists Helena Hamilton and Johanna Leech have come together to produce a series of events and happenings across the city during September 2012. Inspired by the work of Candy Chang, an American artist, designer, and urban planner who explores making cities more comfortable and contemplative places, the group hopes to ask Belfast what it would do with its empty and derelict spaces.

How can residents in a city influence how their city grows? What activities can we find to replace empty shopping areas? The thoughts and opinions collected will go on to inform an exhibition which will be housed in PLACE during November and December. We are inviting you to view neglected spaces and see them as constructive spaces - you are encouraged to give us your opinion.

The first event will be held in Connswater Shopping Centre, Saturday 8th September, 12pm-6pm. Further events are planned throughout the city for Culture Night 2012. To follow the "I Wish This Was..." project visit the tumblr site at:
