Alessia Cargnelli Alessia is an artist and PhD researcher based in Belfast. Her research focus expands through artist-led culture, activism, feminism, memory and hidden history/histories. Her practice background is photography and artist moving image, but she also really enjoy hand-making banners and placards – for the many causes we have to fight for!
Alice Kearney Alice is a graphic designer and illustrator. She works at the Belfast brand consultancy Mammoth and runs Ladies, Wine and Design Belfast. She’s fascinated by the world of typography and wants to get off the computer to get her hand’s dirty learning about and creating type the old fashion way.
Andrew Allen Andrew is a MSc Urban Design student at Queens who enjoys city cycling, screen printed art, cult films, sushi and anything that is the colour green. His interest in this project comes from his interest in practical approaches to design and print making along with his preference for more personal street scapes.
Ciara Topping I am currently a graphic designer based in Belfast. I have a keen interest in sign writing, illustration and design. I no longer have a personal website but I am a graphic designer at kaizenbrandevolution.com
Clíona McKeown-Bittles Clíona is a second year Graphic Design and Illustration student at Ulster University who enjoys reading, tv shows and a good cup of tea above all else. Her interest in this project comes from a love of lettering and typography and always wanting to learn more about them.
David Bunting David is a visual artist and creative director at Images NI.His interests include street art, vintage posters particularly the work of Stanley Mouse, Alton Kelley and Rick Griffin. He also enjoys listening to music (Mozart to Metallica), film and architecture. The Signs of the Time project combines his interest in graphic design, typography and the built environment giving him the opportunity to explore new places as well as learning new skills.
Emily Osborne Emily Osborne is a 2018 PANI Education Award winner and a 2nd year Graphic Design and Illustration student at Ulster University Belfast. Her work aims to explore the tactile nature of art and bring that both to screen and print. Kathy Young I’m an Arts Manager based in Belfast who love Street Art and words so when this project came up I very excited to get involved and learn some practical skills as well as some history of Belfast signage.
Lisa Anderson Lisa works for a commercial property consultants in the auction department and is interested in drawing and making things in her spare time, as well as planning lots of city breaks, and is partial to anything to do with Scandinavian crime thrillers. Interested in all things typography-based this programme has rejuvenated her love for all things hand-made and hand-drawn.
Rebekah McBride I’m a freelance illustrator, I work with Decowell, a conservation studio in Belfast. I’m very interested in the handmade, I love furniture, fine art, history and traditional hand painted signage. I’m super excited about this project and the local history of signage and how we can influence the future.
Rosanna O’Kane Rosanna studies Graphic Design at Ulster University and is currently completing a placement year. She enjoys bright clashing colours, a whole day spent reading and people-watching. Her interest in this programme stems from her love for language, visual art, design and the ways they combine together.
Stuart Gray Stuart was to be a lawyer but instead became interested in art and architecture, he enjoys walks with his dog, Toby, wine, trips abroad and currently has an obsession with Yugoslav and former USSR design. His interest in this programme comes from a longstanding love of logotypes and a chance meeting with a graphic designer who has a love of typefaces.
